Open in July of 2018, Mad River Eye Care PLLC is designed to be your ultimate source of comprehensive eye care in the heart of central Vermont.

Our Mission

Dr. Shannon H. Mitchell and his team are intent on being the premier providers of primary eye care services, and products in the Mad River Valley. Our mission is to deliver eye care in a friendly and comfortable way as efficiently and accurately as possible. To achieve this we use the latest in eye care technology.

Our Philosophy

Giving Back:
At Mad River Eye Care we believe in giving back. Dr. Mitchell has spent time participating in clinics in Central America providing eye care services and glasses for those in areas where eye care is not readily available. He and his team are available and happy to coordinate vision and eye health screenings for certain events or groups including schools, clinics, health awareness events and more.

Dr. Mitchell and his team try to do business with vendors and partners that are aware of the world. We look for vendors that have options for shipping and production that minimize environmental impact. 

Ask us about special interests in the community that could use support or sponsorship from Mad River Eye Care, we are happy to help out when we can!

Environmental awareness:
We are always looking for ways to limit waste in the practice and use recyclable and/or recycled packaging and products when possible. Bring in old glasses, and we will find a way for them to serve again. In addition, Mad River Eye Care has been designed to limit paper use. 

Mad River Eye Care partnered with Brothers Builders to find ways to minimize electricity and propane consumption with energy efficient renovations in the historic Robert Inverness Building. Dr. Mitchell and team are also aware of the Town of Waitsfield’s planning objectives, and will continue to work hard to contribute to the community in meaningful ways.
