Contact Lenses
Dr. Mitchell and his team offer a wide range of contact lenses in Waitsfield, Vermont to meet your vision needs. Whether you’re nearsighted, farsighted, or have a condition that makes it difficult to wear regular contacts, we have options for you.
Soft contact lenses
Soft contact lenses are a popular option for many of our patients because they are comfortable to wear and easy to adjust to. At Mad River Eye Care, we offer soft contact lenses for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. We even offer bifocal, multifocal, and monovision contact lenses (correcting one eye for near vision and the other for distance) to help with cases of presbyopia (loss of near vision as you age).
Dr. Mitchell prioritizes your eye health and prescribes daily disposable soft contact lenses whenever possible for better comfort and convenience. He also custom designs soft contact lenses for patients with unique vision requirements.
Specialty contact lenses
For individuals with conditions like keratoconus who may not be able to wear traditional contact lenses, we offer specialty contact lenses. Dr. Mitchell has successfully fitted hundreds of patients with custom-designed lenses such as hybrid (combining hard and soft materials), scleral (large rigid contact lenses for irregular corneas or hard-to-fit eyes), and rigid gas permeable lenses. These custom-designed lenses can often provide better vision correction than traditional glasses or contact lenses for patients with specific needs. We can also prescribe cosmetic lenses, both with and without vision correction, that change or enhance your eye’s natural color.
Orthokeratology
One innovative option we offer at Mad River Eye Care is orthokeratology (ortho-k). This non-surgical procedure involves wearing specially designed rigid gas permeable contact lenses overnight to reshape the cornea and correct your vision. These lenses not only provide clear vision throughout the day but have also been shown to slow down myopia progression in both children and adults.
